Who writes here?

We Actually Tested is run by Marcus Vane, an independent infrastructure and privacy-services tester. I have spent six years working in hosting and network operations, and I started this site in late 2024 because the no-KYC niche had a problem: nearly every review site recommends services it has never used, ranked by whoever pays the highest commission.

Why this site exists

The privacy-services market is full of excellent providers and outright scams, and from the outside they look identical. The only way to tell them apart is to actually pay, deploy, and measure. That is what I do here — every ranked service has been purchased with my own funds and used in real conditions before a single word is written.

How the site makes money

Some pages contain affiliate links. If you buy through them, I earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This never changes scores or rankings — services I score poorly are not recommended, affiliate program or not. Several services I test have no affiliate program at all; they are ranked on merit like everything else.
